With the sale and use of fireworks finally legal in Maine, the Selectmen for the Town of Buxton are doing an end-run around the will of the people by holding a special town meeting in the middle of Christmas week.

The Town of Buxton is seeking applications for the position of Transfer Station / Recycling Center attendant. Candidates for this position should possess strong customer service skills with the ability to work as a team with co-workers and the public. This position requires the ability to lift 75 pounds and work in all weather conditions unloading recyclables and bulky wastes. This position also requires the ability to operate or learn to operate a skid-steer forklift, backhoe, and baling equipment.

Historical District Limits Private Property Rights

At a recent meeting in Bar Mills regarding listing the village in the National Register of Historic Places, it was claimed by a consultant for the local historical society that individual rights will not be limited by such a listing. Contrary to this emphatic statement, it appears that many homeowners in the Bar Mills village may already be in violation of the Buxton Zoning Ordinance.
